Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has released emails from the National Enquirer threatening to publish embarrassing photos and texts. The search for the leak's source has turned to connections and history: Trump has denounced Amazon’s business practices, and the Washington Post, owned by Bezos, for news coverage critical of the president. Trump has also said Bezos uses the Post for political gain.
David Pecker of the National Enquirer is a longtime friend of Trump. The publication bought and killed two stories on Trump’s alleged affairs with Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal. Michael Cohen, Trump’s lawyer, was convicted in the New York case on federal charges related to the payments to McDougal and Daniels. A part of a plea deal, Cohen said under oath that Trump, during final stages as a candidate, led him to violate campaign finance laws by directing him to orchestrate the payments to McDougal and Daniels.
Michael Sanchez has been connected to Roger Stone and Carter Page, both members of President Trump's 2016 election campaign. Stone called Sanchez a friend in an InfoWars interview. Page invited Sanchez to Politicon. Sanchez has also tweeted in support of Trump.
Michael Sanchez is Lauren Sanchez’s brother. Lauren and Jeff Bezos had an extramarital affair, exposed by the National Enquirer on Jan. 10, the day after Bezos announced his divorce from MacKenzie Bezos.
