Same district, different Issues: Reopening schools in COVID-19 hot zone neighborhoods

Ninety-one of the Greenville, S.C. public schools are in ZIP codes where COVID-19 infection rates range from 109 to 304 cases per 10,000 residents. Fifty-nine of those schools are in neighborhoods where nonwhite population is more than 25%. But four schools in the district are isolated in one other ZIP code where the infection rate is only 84 cases per 10,000. That ZIP has a nonwhite population of 14.7%.
